AI guardian — Aotearoa New Zealand

Always awake. Always answering.

Aahi Watch is an AI guardian you can talk to. It watches your cameras and sensors around the clock, understands behaviour — and when something genuinely matters, it calls you. Ask it anything: what's happening, what happened, what to do next. A family home, a care facility, a storage site, a factory floor.

From the team behind API Connects Ltd — an NZ engineering company, not a gadget brand.

A phone call, not a ping

Serious alerts arrive as a call you can actually talk to.

Understands behaviour

Context and patterns, not just motion pixels.

Cameras and sensors

One fabric — intruders, doors, temperature, plant state.

Privacy first

NZ Privacy Act & Biometric Code by design.

How it works

Connect it. Teach it your normal.
Then stop watching feeds.

1

Connect

Your existing cameras and sensors, or our recommended kit. One home or forty sites — the setup is the same shape.

2

Teach

It learns your normal: people, vehicles, rhythms, plant conditions. You set who gets called, for what, in what order.

3

Relax

It watches, it understands, and it only interrupts you when it matters. And any time you wonder — just call and ask.

The difference

It doesn't just alert you.
It answers you.

Everyone else sends a push notification and a ten-second clip, then leaves you to work it out. Aahi Watch rings your phone, tells you what it thinks is going on, and then talks it through with you.

It remembers what it has seen before — so "has that car been here at night?" and "how long has that chiller been warm?" are both questions it can actually answer.

Aahi Watch
Someone has been at the side gate for four minutes. I don't recognise them, and this is the second time this vehicle has parked nearby this week. I've started recording. Would you like to see the clip, or should I call Sam next door?
You
Has the vehicle been here at night before?
Aahi Watch
Twice — Tuesday 11pm, Thursday 1am. Same plate. Shall I notify the police non-emergency line, and keep a report for you?

One engine, four jobs

One home, or forty
sites at once.

The same engine watches all of them. What changes is what "something's wrong" means — and who gets the call.

Aahi Watch Home

Know the house is fine. Just ask.

Families, rural properties, baches. Real calls when it matters — and no app to install, so your parents can use it too.

“There's a dog loose on your driveway near the garage, no owner with it.” Called you at 6:40am, before you'd had coffee.
Aahi Watch Care

Know she's alright. Just ask.

Aged-care facilities and ageing in place. Pattern-of-life awareness with documented consent, sensor-only rooms, and calls to family when the rhythm breaks.

“Mum's up, the kettle's been on, and the night was quiet.” The answer you actually wanted — without a camera in her lounge.
Aahi Watch Sites

Every site, awake and accountable.

Storage, retail, commercial property, logistics. Behaviour-based risk and plate recognition across a whole portfolio — and 3am incidents you assess in ninety seconds instead of sending someone.

“A ute entered yard 12 and hasn't left. Unknown plate. Do you want me to hold the gate and call the on-call?”

Aahi Watch Works

Know your floor. Ask it anything.

Factories, plants, cold stores, processing. The same sensor fabric that spots an intruder watches temperature, door states, tank levels and whether a line is actually running.

“Chiller 3 has been above set point for eleven minutes and the door sensor says it's shut. Nobody's badged in since six.”

What it costs

Straight answers
on price, too.

One rate card. A camera costs the same whether it watches a driveway or a loading dock — the rate falls as the count climbs, and sensors are included either way. What changes between a house and a business is what we commit to, not the price of a camera.

What moves the price

No two sites cost the same.

So we won't pretend otherwise. Four things set your number, and we'll walk through all four before we quote one.

  • How many cameras. The rate per camera falls as the count climbs.
  • How long we keep the clips. Thirty days, ninety, or a full year — your recorder still keeps the rest.
  • How busy the site is. A quiet yard costs less to watch than a forecourt. Set at the survey, reviewed once a year.
  • Whether we respond. Call you and talk it through, or challenge on site and escalate.
One pilot site, a fixed fee, and a number on how many callouts it removed. Then you decide.
Home

From

$40 / camera / month

Four cameras, $160 a month. The same rate a business pays — a camera costs what it costs, wherever it is.

Families, rural properties and baches. One residential address, sensors included.

  • Every serious alert arrives as a call you can talk to
  • Sensors included, no limit
  • 30 days of event history
  • No app to install

What a business gets on top

Same cameras. More promised.

The rate per camera is identical. What a site pays for beyond that is everything a business needs and a household doesn't.

  • A response commitment — not best effort
  • Every site on one account, with escalation rules that differ by location and by hour
  • An exportable audit trail of every detection, call and human response
  • Plate recognition and restricted-area rules
  • A named engineer on any deployment over a hundred cameras

Prices in New Zealand dollars. Home includes GST; Sites and Works are quoted excluding GST. Cameras aren't included — bring your own, or ask us about a kit. Early-access pricing is held for your first twelve months. A camera is priced the same wherever it is: the rate falls as the count climbs and never drops below $20. What a business pays for on top of the cameras is a response commitment, cover across every site you run, and an exportable audit trail.

Privacy

Always watching over.
Never just watching.

Systems like this earn trust or they earn nothing — in a lounge room and in a procurement round alike. So we'd rather say this out loud than bury it in a policy.

Built under New Zealand's Privacy Act and the Biometric Processing Privacy Code — designed for it, not retro-fitted.

  • Your footage is yours. We don't sell data. Not to advertisers, not to insurers, not ever.
  • Facial recognition ships off.Turning it on is opt-in — per camera, per person, with controls you can see.
  • See it, export it, delete it.Everything the system remembers about a face, a plate or a person is yours to review and remove.
  • Processed close to home.On-device and at the edge wherever we can, so less leaves your property in the first place.
  • Sensor-only modes. For bedrooms, bathrooms and anywhere a camera doesn't belong. It still knows the rhythm.
  • Care needs consent.Care deployments require documented consent from residents and their families. No exceptions.

The name

A fire is the thing
that stays awake.

Aahi is our founder's daughter's name. Ahi is te reo Māori for fire.

Long before there were alarms, a fire was how a place stayed watched. It burned through the night when everyone else slept, and while it burned, someone was paying attention. Aahi Watch is that idea rebuilt with cameras, sensors and AI — present, patient, and awake at 3am whether it's a house, a storage yard or a plant floor.

It's built by the team behind API Connects Ltd, a New Zealand systems-engineering company — people who spend their days making other companies' critical systems work at 3am. We started with one house. Ours.

Sites & plants

Running more than
one location?

Storage, retail, logistics, cold stores, processing. Tell us the shape of it and we'll come back with what a pilot on one site looks like — not a brochure.

  • Works with the cameras and sensors you already have — we don't sell you a rip-out
  • One pilot site, a fixed fee, and a number on how many callouts it removed
  • Audit trail and privacy documentation your insurer and procurement team can read
  • NZ-based engineers on the phone, not an offshore ticket queue
